AIT AIT-1 3.75"W x 2.4"L x 0.6"T   There are 2 types of AIT media: AIT-1 and AIT-2, and they are each available in two lengths.  All have the same physical dimensions.    There are two recording formats: AIT-1 and AIT-2   AIT (Advanced Intelligent Tape) tapes are 8mm media, but are not interchangeable with Exabyte 8mm or Mammoth drives.  AIT cartridges have a RAM chip built into the tape cartridge that can be used to hold a directory of the tape, for super fast access to the tape catalog.    AIT Drive AIT Media Length Capacity Native/Compressed AIT-1 SDX1-25C 170 M 25 / 50 GB AIT-1 SDX1-35C 230 M 35 / 70 GB AIT-2 SDX2-36C 170 M 36 / 72 GB AIT-2 SDX2-50C 230 M 50 / 100 GB
