Is there data on a mainframe that you need in a PC format?
Weekly / Monthly Conversions:
If you receive data on mainframe media, such as 9-track, 3480, or 3590 tape, on a periodic basis (daily, weekly, monthly), that you need to use on your PC, we can write a custom program to convert it to meet your needs. DISC can read hundreds of different tape and file formats and convert the data to the PC file type of your choice. We can import the file into a database such as Access, or deliver it in the proper form for you to import into your application. We can extract specific fields, select records, and reformat the data to your file specifications. If the file contains multiple COBOL record types, we can split it into related PC tables.
Of course we perform all the common field conversions such as IBM Signed fields, comp-3 packed fields, and binary fields, but if you need the data altered, such as converting Julian dates to Gregorian dates, we can do that, too. If you're working with a commercial program with a fixed import specification, DISC can reformat the data for that program. The converted files can be delivered via email or ftp, or on CD, DVD, or floppy.
We have experience with hundreds
of different files, and may already have written a program to convert your
data, saving you programming costs. It's standard procedure for us
to generate summary and Q.C. reports of the processing, for cross verification
of the data. And our service is fast; we frequently process the data
the day we receive the tapes. Weekly processing generally costs between
$4 and $60 per tape, depending on the volume of tapes per week, the amount
of data, and the processing involved. A common price for 5 tapes
per week is about $20 per tape.
Data Distribution:
DISC has developed systems and procedures for distributing data to hundreds of separate clients from your single mainframe data file. You can give us your entire data base and we will generate a file for each of your clients, in the format they prefer, and email the file to them, or place it on our ftp server. Large files can be written to CD and shipped directly to your clients.
Our experience with various
computer and file formats allows you to deliver your data to your clients
in the format they prefer, without writing dozens of conversion programs
yourself. Do you have data to distribute to multiple clients, in
multiple formats?
